10 Foods to Avoid to Prevent Acidity

Just like different substances & food items, different parts of the human body have different pH levels. Your ideal blood pH is between 7.35 and 7.45, which is slightly alkaline. The stomach is typically at a pH of 3.5, which helps food break down properly.

If you suspect you have problems with acidity, you can make changes to your diet as it will help you to improve the symptoms.

Tips to Prevent Acidity

  1. Sugar:

Sugar is the root cause of acidity!

All sugars cause a rapid rise in blood sugar, which then creates an environment for the creation of bacteria, yeast and mould within the body (a hugely acidic digestive system, candida overgrowth, digestive issues, mal-absorption of nutrients and any sickness or disease you can think of).
As per various studies and research, sugar is highly acidic, inflammatory, oxidizing, endocrine disrupting, cancer-causing, diabetes starting, disgustingly addictive and the root of all sickness and disease!

  1. Certain Dairy Products:

The different types of dairy foods include butter, cheese, cream, custards, and yogurts are acidic foods  as they are filled with hormones, pesticide residues, microforms, mycotoxins, and saturated fats. Cheese and yogurt are made by fermentation and dairy is the leader of all foods in forming sticky mucus. It is highly acid-forming. It is better to avoid all those foods to keep yourself healthy.

3. Pickles:

It is a very common food in India but remember they are preserved in vinegar and are slightly more acidic than others, since vinegar is an acidic substance. So eat pickles in moderation.

  1. Fresh and Processed Meats:

Meat and their by products are highly acidic. The animals feed on stored grains and pass along all the associated problems in their meat. As per the different studies, there is a strong correlation between animal protein and several kinds of cancer, particularly breast, thyroid, prostate, pancreatic, endometrial, ovarian, stomach, and colon cancers.

  1. Sodas and other Sweetened Beverages:

All these products produce a lot of acid and a lot of mucus.

  1. Tomatoes:

Most vegetables are lightly acidic, but tomatoes (with all their seedy goodness) trigger acidic reactions in the body. So eat them with alkaline foods like pasta or bread.

  1. Certain Fruits:

Blackberries, blueberries, cherries, grapes — all those fruits are good for our health but those fruits are highly acidic.

8.Onion:

Stay away from onions. The link between them and acid reflux is clear – Not only do they lower the pressure with which the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) closes to separate the stomach from the esophagus, but, according to the research, in patients with acid reflux, onion consumption increases the amount of time the stomach has a pH of less than four (the lower the pH, the higher the acidity) and exacerbates heartburn and belching. Unfortunately, cooking onions doesn’t have much effect on their acidity, so if you’re really passionate about onions, you can try eating milder shallots and green onions in small doses to see how strongly they affect your reflux.

  1. Coffee:

When consumed in large quantities, coffee has been linked time and time again to increased prevalence of acid reflux symptoms. For instance, we found that caffeinated coffee greatly increased reflux patients’ symptoms — an effect that was much smaller if the coffee was decaf. However, caffeine didn’t appear to have any influence on symptoms when patients consumed it in tea.

  1. Alcohol:

Alcohol has a negative effect on your body’s pH level.
