Breastfeeding is beneficial for both the mother and baby. It is a loving experience for a mother and her baby. Breast milk comprises of the right proportion of carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and proteins required for the growth and development of the baby. The milk also comprises of antibodies which assist in the babies’ vulnerable immune system to clear off infections and diseases such as diarrhea and pneumonia.
If the mother has no health issues, they are recommended to breastfeed the babies for the 1st 6 months at least. They should commence breastfeeding their babies as soon as possible because post birth there is the production of Colostrum, a nutritional substance which incredibly benefits babies.
Babycare for your bundle of joy
The baby’s skin needs high protection from elements. It keeps constantly changing with the growth of the baby which is why it is very essential to take good care of them especially in first few years because they are critical. New skin produces low melanin and is highly susceptible to damage from the sun. The dermis and epidermis or lower and top-level skin of babies have lower hemidesmosomes in between them but more fat. Hence it is not as strong a guard as the adult skin against external agents which can penetrate more easily which may result in irritation so the harsh things must be avoided.
Bath time recommendations for your baby
The baby does not need a bath daily. Applying natural oil on the skin of baby actually, forms protective guard against allergens & rashes. Babies need to be given bath around thrice a week. Their skin shall be mucked off by wiping during the bath.
Avoid soap while bathing your baby
We should e using only non-irritating baby soaps specifically produced for baby’s age group as they contain fewer or no weird chemicals, dyes, fragrance and other elements which may be bad for the baby’s skin.
Be attentive towards your baby signs
Eyes should not ever be kept off the baby while giving it a bath. It is not encouraged to give the baby dips in bathtubs until their umbilical stump has fallen off. A sponge bath which is around nappy part is sufficient until then.
Temperature of the water recommended for baby baths
The ideal temperature for water to give babies bath is 36 to 37 degrees. In case, the baby has eczema, 35 to 36-degree temperature is recommended. We should check the temperature with our elbow and not wrist and we should be comfortable with it.
Moisturizer recommended for babies
The babies should be well dried with gentle towel. Babies’ skin are prone to dryness so moisturizers shall be applied soon after the baby is patted dry for preventing dryness of skin.
