Can I get Breast screening before I am 50?

Most of the women who are not at high risk of breast cancer, for them there is no need to go for continuous mammograms before the age of 50. And to be cautious a woman can get one mammogram earlier around age 45 and then if it is normal wait until she is 50 for the next.

Mammograms are still required at almost any age of lady if a lump is found in the investigation. Doctors or Experts agree that women at especially high risk of breast cancer problem like as those with mothers or sisters who had breast cancer, should start mammograms between the ages of 40 and 50 or in rare cases, even earlier. The risk of breast cancer increases with age. That is why it is very important for all menopausal women to get regular mammograms.Several women appreciated that mammograms can be unreliable in younger women because their breast tissue is dense and so routine mammograms aren’t started before the age of 50. Women ages 40 to 44 should have the choice to start annual breast cancer screening with mammograms x-rays of the breast if they wish to do so. Women age 45 to 54 should get mammograms every year. Women 55 and older should switch to mammograms every 2 years, or can continue yearly screening. The mammogram is used to look for lumps or other findings that are too small to be felt during a physical exam. A mammogram can also help your doctor determine the next step if a lump, growth, or change in your breast is found.
