Cervical Degenerative Disc Disease: Causes, Symptoms

The most important  common symptoms of cervical degenerative disc disease are neck pain and a stiff neck. When one of these conditions presses on, one or more of the many nerves running through the spinal cord, one  also can develop pain,numbness, or weakness radiating down your shoulder, arm, and hand.Degenerative disc disease is an age-related condition that happens when one or more of the discs relation  the vertebrae of the spinal column deteriorates or breaks down, leading to pain. Degenerative disc disease is not a disease, but a natural occurrence that comes with aging.The rubbery discs relation  the vertebrae normally allow for flexing and bending of the back, Such  shock absorbers. In time  they become worn, and they no longer offer as much protection as before.

Cervical Degenerative Disc Disease Symptoms are given below:-

  • Neck pain. The low-grade pain of a stiff neck is the most  important common symptom of cervical degenerative disc disease. However, sometimes the pain could also flare up and become severe, perhaps lasting a few hours or days.
  • Nerve pain. It is the  type of pain tends to be sharp or electric shock-like and can radiate down the shoulder into the arm, hand, and/or fingers. Basically , nerve pain would only be felt on one side of the body.
  • Neurological symptoms in the arm, hand, and/or fingers. Pins-and-needles tingling, numbness, and/or weakness can radiate down the shoulder into the arm, hand, and/or fingers. It is  types of symptoms can interfere with daily activities, such as typing, getting dressed, or holding objects.
  • Pain gets worse with movement. In general, pain caused by the degenerative disc itself tends to be aggravated by movement and alleviated by rest.
