Outside food to avoid in monsoon season

The monsoon is a good season for all. However the same can also be associated with breeding of mosquitos, vector borne diseases and stomach infections. Hence it is important to keep a check on the kind of food that you have. The bacteria and other germs can settle on the leafy vegetables and cut fruits to caught havoc in your well being.

Following are the points to avoid food during monsoon season:-

Leafy Vegetables – Leafy vegetables must be avoided during monsoon. Try and avoid spinach, cabbage and cauliflower this season. Opt for pungent vegetables like bitter gourd, ghiya, tori or tinda. Confirm that all vegetables are thoroughly washed and cooked well in condition.

Avoid fresh Juice from street Vendors – Any fresh food items that have had a long exposure to the monsoon air should be avoided. Street vendors have the fruits cut and placed in  advance which comes in involved with contaminated air, causing infections. Stick to fresh fruit juice made at home and consumed instantly.

Sea Food – Monsoon is a good season but fish and prawns should be avoided at this time of the year. Stick to chicken and mutton to satiate your craving for non-vegetarian food.

Fried Food – Fried food is one of the food items you should absolutely  avoid  this rainy season and science backs me up on this too. The highly humid monsoon weather makes our digestion process to slow down. However irresistible that spread of pakodas, samosas and kachodi may seem, they could cause gastronomical problems like bloating and stomach upset. Extra salty food also react water retention.

Fizzy Drinks – Fizzy drinks decrease the minerals in our body, which in turn leads to reduction of enzyme activity. Keep a bottle of water or nimbu paani handy along with warm beverages like ginger you’re your digestive system will be good.
