Laryngitis is the inflammation of the larynx or “voice-box”. Laryngitis maybe short-term, in which case it shouldn’t last more than 2 weeks or longer. If it lasts more than that, then it is chronic Laryngitis. Also called laryngeal inflammation, it is a very common condition in India, with more than 10 million reported cases every year. It is communicable and spreads by touch, through airborne respiratory droplets and even touching an infected surface. It is more common in middle age and affects more men than women.
