Dr Narendra Kumar, leading cardiac electrophysiologist of India, has been honored with the NRI of the Year Award by the reputed Times media group. The prestigious award function was organized at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai and was adjudged among more than nearly 22,000 entries by reputed dignitaries – Mr. Harsha Bhogle, Indian Commentator, Mr. Ashish Chauhan, MD & CEO of Bombay Stock Exchange, Prasoon Joshi,CEO of McCann World group India , and Lyricist, Suhel Seth, Founder And Managing Partner Of Counsel age India, Mr. Deepak Bagla, MD of Invest India, Mr. Dalip Tahil, Indian Film Actor, to list a few. The event was organized by ICICI and the reputed TV channel – Times Now.
Dr Narendra Kumar was awarded the NRI of the Year 2018 for Academics. Dr. Narendra Kumar is a European board Certified Electrophysiology Specialist (ECES)physician with more than 11 years of cardiology experience. He is the first physician of Indian origin to have passed level 1 and 2 of ECES. He obtained his doctorate on ‘Atrial Fibrillation Ablation’ from Maastricht University, amongst the world’s top ranked hospitals and has authored more than 50 publications (in JACC, Heart Rhythm, CHEST and reviewer for major journals as The Lancet, Circulation, JICE, Heart, etc). He is also a Fellow of American College of Cardiology, Royal college of Physicians of Edinburg and of European Society of cardiology. His 2 concepts are undergoing patent evaluation. Being trained at Harvard Medical School for advance medical techniques, his wider experience helps to provide better and well balanced cardiac EP solutions.He is also a program chair for an International cardiology program.His 2 papers including “ATSCA study” has been referenced in 2017 expert consensus on atrial fibrillation ablation guidelines.
Recently, Dr Narendra Kumar, Consultant Cardiologist & Electrophysiologist at Paras HMRI Hospital Patna & Paras Hospitals Gurgaon was the only south Asian to be selected for an exclusive scholarship program at American Heart Rhythm Society at Boston and Milwaukee. The Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) is an international non-profit organization that promotes education and advocacy for cardiac arrhythmia professionals and patients. The Society was founded in 1979 and counted 5,100 members from over 70 countries as of January 2009.
On receiving the award, Dr Narendra Kumar shares, “Awards definitely motivate a doctor and a researcher. However the best motivation and award is the appreciation from a patient. Electrophysiology in India is at present in its nascent stage and it is imperative to create awareness about how arrhythmia therapies, cardiacablation, preventive cardiology, atrial fibrillation management & heart failure can be revolutionized with technology and medical expertise. At Paras Hospitals, Gurgaon and Paras HMRI Hospital Patna we aim at establishing an advanced centre for heart care.”
Dr Narendra post his training at the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) would be introducing Cryoballoon and 3D Heart Mapping Technology at Paras HMRI Hospital Patna and Paras Hospitals, Gurgaon.
