Darbhanga June 1, 2018: On the occasion of World Asthma Day, Paras Global Hospital Darbhanga, took the initiative of sensitizing the students of prominent schools in Darbhanga. The health talk sessions were headed by the renowned pulmonologist – Dr Maqsood Alam. Dr. Maqsood Alam is an experienced Pulmonology and Critical Care Expert with more than 10 years of extensive experience. He specializes in Asthma, COPD, Bronchoscopy & Sleep Study. Over the years he has treated numerous cases of chronic bronchitis, etc.
Through the initiative more than 1000 students were made aware about the risks, signs , symptoms and treatment for Asthma.
Dr Maqsood Alam, Consultant Pulmonology, Paras Global Hospital Darbhanga, highlighted, “Asthma is also caused due to air pollution, environment pollution, allergy, smoke, dust and cold. If you feel any change in your breathing patterns due to the same, it is best advised that you use a mask to avoid dust. However it is also important that the we recognize the allergen responsible for the breathing difficulties or the asthma attack so that one can device a preventive measure plan.”
Dr Maqsood Alam also shared that, “If someone has a problem of respiration he should consult a doctor immediately because it could be a symptom of asthma. Apart from respiratory problems heaviness and pain in the chest, and cough are also its symptoms. A person suffering from regular or persistent cough could be an asthma patient. Asthma cannot be fully cured but can be controlled with the help of medicines. The patients should take medical advice to avoid further complications. Apart from medicines, inhalers are also useful in this ailment.”
Dr. Alam advised asthma patients to not consume cold drinks, ice cream and cold water and also avoid eating materials which cause cold in the body. About curd he highlighted that fresh curd is not harmful. He further advised vaccination for flu and pneumonia on priority basis.
On this occasion the Paras Hospital also started special asthma clinic for the better treatment and care of asthma patients.
